Marywood University is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to serve as Associate/Assistant Professor (tenure-track) Program Director within our CAATE accredited athletic training education program (ATP). This is a 12-month faculty appointment within the newly merged Nutrition, Athletic Training and Exercise Science Department. Accreditation approval has begun for migration to a 3+2 Program to meet industry standards for the Master’s Degree Requirements. Responsibilities: As Program Director, the faculty member will be responsible for evaluating and implementing all aspects of the athletic training major to meet both individual needs of students and established CAATE accreditation standards; assist with leadership and vision for Athletic Training Program as it transitions to Master’s degree. Previous experience in CAATE accredited athletic training program preferred. Minimum five years BOCATC certification and eligibility for Pennsylvania Certification required. Strength in scientific areas such as general medical aspects of athletic training, organization and administration of athletic training, therapeutic exercise or modalities, is preferred.
Responsibilities include: teaching graduate and undergraduate courses within the ATP and courses for all majors in the department, student advising, commitment to scholarly activity and university, professional and community service.
The successful applicant at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) will possess an earned doctorate (Master’s and ABD considered) in a related field. All applicants must be BOC certified athletic trainers for a minimum of three (5) years and be eligible for Pennsylvania licensure. Applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor should also demonstrate a history of scholarship.
